Keyboard shortcuts

The full shortcut reference for the editor — playback, layer creation, timeline, duration, and pixel-level positioning.

1

Playback and layer creation

Most shortcuts act on the currently selected layer, so select before you press.

SpaceToggle play / pause
1Show the create-layer modal
2Create an audio layer
= / -Zoom the timeline in / out
2

Editing

Ctrl + CCopy layer
Ctrl + VPaste layer
SSplit audio at the playhead
Ctrl + ZUndo
Ctrl + YRedo
3

Timeline and duration

These are the shortcuts that save the most time, because dragging a layer to an exact second with the mouse is genuinely fiddly.

] / [Move start ±1 second
Shift + ] / [Move start ±10 seconds
. / ,Change duration ±1 second
Shift + . / ,Change duration ±10 seconds

Positioning

With an element selected, the arrow keys nudge it one pixel at a time. Hold Shift for ten.

This is how you align things precisely. Dragging gets you close; the arrow keys get you exact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a shortcut not working?

Almost always because nothing is selected, or focus is inside a text field. Click the layer or element first, and make sure you are not still editing a value.

Are these shown anywhere in the app?

Yes — there is a shortcut reference inside the layers and elements panels. It is easy to miss, which is why the full list is reproduced here.
