Table chart race

An animated leaderboard that stays readable well past the point where bars stop working — twenty rows and more, with multiple columns.

1

When to use it

This is the type to reach for when a bar race has stopped working. Bars become illegible somewhere around fifteen items; a table carries twenty rows and more comfortably, because rows do not need to encode value in their length.

It also carries multiple columns, so each entity can show several metrics at once — points, wins, and goal difference in a sports table, for instance — which no race type can do.

Rows reorder as ranks change, so it still animates like a race.

2

Rows, columns and layout

In the Chart panel, Rows and Columns set the grid. Order Items and Show Items decide which entities qualify and how they sort.

Layout, Padding Inside, and Space Outside control the spacing — the difference between a cramped table and a readable one is usually here.

Background Color, Background Opacity, Item Corner Radius, Border Size, and Border Color style the rows. Alternating or translucent row backgrounds help the eye track across a wide table.

3

Choosing which fields to show

The Field Visibility panel is specific to tables and is the one people miss. Your spreadsheet may carry more columns than you want on screen; this panel picks which are rendered without editing the underlying data.

That means one dataset can drive several videos — a detailed table for one audience, a two-column version for another.

4

Bullet points and reveal

The Bullet Points panel adds small badges to rows, with their own size, font, background, colour, and corner radius — useful for flags, medals, or status markers.

The Reveal panel controls how the table first appears: Reveal Duration, Reveal Order, and Item Animation Duration. Building a long table row by row is far more watchable than having twenty rows appear at once.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many rows can a table show?

Twenty and up is the range it is designed for. The practical limit is the canvas: rows need enough height to carry readable text, so a 1080p landscape frame comfortably holds more than a vertical one.

Can we show different columns in different videos?

Yes — that is what Field Visibility is for. Clone the project and change which fields are visible, and one spreadsheet drives several videos.

Why do rows jump rather than slide when ranks change?

Check the animation duration relative to your period length. If each period is very short, there is not enough time for a reorder to read as movement.
